Sixteen spirited teams from Seattle’s art and design community have entered the Steamroller Smackdown, a thrilling competition to see who can print the coolest gigantic poster in the parking lot with a steamroller on August 25, 2012. Newcomers include Amazon, City Arts Magazine, Hey, and KeeganMeegan. Returning: Beautiful Angle, Design Commission, Evolution Press, Starbucks, Wong Doody Crandall Weiner, AIGA Seattle, Team Nerd, Modern Dog, Tether, Fitch, Turnstyle and Ten Gun! These giants of design (the posters, not the people) will be auctioned off to support the letterpress program at the School of Visual Concepts.

On August 27, 2011, the competition will be fierce as teams from the local art and design community compete to print the coolest gigantic poster in the SVC parking lot with a steamroller instead of the traditional printing press. This year we have concocted the perfect storm of creative studios, letterpress superstars, and contingents from local art & design programs.

Newbies, here’s what you signed up for:
Designed by Jenny Wilkson and printed at Evolution Press on luxurious double-thick cotton cover stock from Reich Paper, the 10th Annual Wayzgoose invitation is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple. You don’t have to buy any chocolate bars to get one; just ask at SVC and you shall receive.
Thanks to the hard work of letterpress, graphic design, and web maven Elizabeth Mullaly, a true renaissance woman, the Wayzgoose has a permanent online presence. Check back for event news and wacky photos, almost as entertaining as the event itself!
